London is home to a comprehensive network of research institutions:

The Lawson Health Research Institute is Canada's third largest research institute. Special areas of focus include robotic surgery, maternal and newborn health, state of the art medical imaging, diabetes, probiotics, rehabilitation and geriatric care and wound healing.

The Robarts Research Institute is Canada's largest privately funded research institution. Robarts focuses on a number of areas including advanced imaging, autoimmunity/diabetes, gene therapy, heart/circulation and stroke/neurodegenerative diseases.

The London Regional Cancer Centre (LRCC) focuses on ensuring productive collaboration between scientists studying the biology of cancer and physicians who treat breast cancer patients every day.

London is home to the National Research Council of Canada's Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Institute. IMTI's goal is to work closely with industrial product manufacturers, including those in the biotech sector, to become the leader in design and production processes.

C-STAR - Canadian Surgical Technologies and Advanced Robotics is a world leader in surgical innovation and training. It is Canada's national centre for developing and testing the next generation of minimally invasive surgical and interventional technologies and techniques, including robotics.

The Stiller Centre for Technology Commercialization is a 50,000 sq. ft. facility designed for start-up biotech companies and offers tenants business planning support, including market research, mentoring and operations analysis performed by MBA graduates.

The Canadian Research and Development Centre for Probiotics' primary focus is to undertake basic discovery research on lactobacilli and bifidobacteria. This includes studies in the areas of microbial ecology, proteomics, microbial genetics, biofilm studies, cell-signaling, immunology and population health.

The National Centre for Audiology (NCA) houses Canada's largest educational and research programs in the field of hearing health care. The NCA research team is interdisciplinary, including specialists in Audiology, Computer Science, Engineering, Experimental Psychology, Hearing Science and Speech Science.
